Martha Van Pelt, SCLS Director, came to visit on 8/4 regarding Koha concerns.
We had 27 participants at the SLP Grand Finale honoring Bob Garske and featuring David Lusse, 8/4.
We had 17 attendees at the presentation about the Dictionary of American Regional English, 8/16.
I attended the Village's program on Parliamentary Procedures on 8/15/11.
On 8/18 Mark Ibach from SCLS came for a visit with me about library advocacy.
On 8/23 we held a birthday party for Winnie the Pooh's 90 birthday.   62 attended.
The SLP numbers are in.  To summarize, we had fewer participants but they participated more.
We had a drop in the number of preschoolers - due to swimming lesson conflicts.
We had a slight increase in number of elem student participation, but a decrease in # of readers.
There was an increase in number of adult readers from 107 last year to 115 this year.
Patrons' comments and participation in the guessing jar and prize basket contests were favorable.
Katy, Eva and I will continue to evaluate the program for next year.
Although we offered more programs this year, there were many conflicts for the times.
We are again experiencing issues with the men's bathroom so have it locked now.
Better World Books picked up 100 boxes of books on 8/24/11.  15 kids and 2 adults helped.
All of the 7 stolen DVDs have been returned.  We are keeping "at risk" DVDs behind the desk.
I applied for an LSTA Early Literacy Grant for 2012 for our Library.
Robin Carelli and I will be setting up an intergenerational reading program with the preschools and
the folks from Pioneer Place.  We will also be setting up times for the elementary classes to come
and get Library cards and tour the Library this fall.
The Friends and I are planning an event for the Library's 70th birthday, but the date is still TBD.
On 9/9, Eva and I will attend a hands-on learning and demonstrations of tech gadgets in Wis. Dells.
We will learn about various Nooks, Kindles, Sony e-Readers, ELMO Document Camera, iPads and
mp3 players.  We'll practice accessing OverDrive, learn about Enterprise Wireless and Windows 7
Patron Image featuring photo and video editing, scanning documents and photos and disk burning.
These gadgets will soon be part of library offerings, so we want to be aware and in the know.
There will be a ceremony to dedicate Harriet Keller's plaque on Saturday, Oct. 1st at 10 am at the
Library.  Please consider saying a few words.  I'll have refreshments.  Family members will attend.
We are planning a Library Halloween Party for Sat., Oct. 29th from 2-3 pm.
Katy's fall reading programs will begin with registration from September 19th to 26th.
Circulation numbers for August are not available at this writing.
