Blackbox by Julie Schumacher is a book that talks about the struggles of having a teenage sister who happens to battle depression. Elena, the main character, faces some hard times as her sister is emitted to a psych ward. Not only does she not have her sister, she just moved into town so she doesn’t have anyone to confide in that would listen to her. Except this strange boy named Jimmy. Him and Elena slowly begin to become friends and he comforted her with the knowledge he knows from Longhorn, the place Dora is staying. Read this story to go on Elena’s journey with her.  

This book is realistic fiction and is about mental health. This book does talk about suicide and depression.
