LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
9-May-17

Library News
The library displayed select fifth grade History Night projects for a few weeks after History Night was held at the school. Library staff planned a Volunteer Luncheon as a thank you to our wonderful volunteers which was held during National Library Week. National Library Week was a success with a 50% off Book Cart Sale, 'Check Me Out' contest, word candy, and a well attended Family Book and Movie event. Three people attended the Strategic Plan Community Update. Feedback following the two hour presentation and discussion was positive. The Friends of the Library held their annual meeting at the Library on April 24th and had a guest author, Maddy Hunter speak following their meeting. Lora Broadhurst was recognized for her accomplishments as Columbia County Library Advocate of 2016. Lora was featured in the Portage Daily Register and Poynette Press. The Village fixed the leaky toilet in the children's area and are currently working on the water in the basement issue.

The additional advertising for our movie events as well as showing new releases close the release date seems to be having a positive impact on attendance. We were pleased to have 30 people in attendance for the Friends Annual Meeting and Author Talk. Lindsey Ganz attended the Delivery Meeting at SCLS on April 13th. Lindsey had a phone meeting with SCLS Tech Department to discuss I-Boss Filtering. Staff computers are now filtered to test and make sure everything is going well before filtering patron PCs and Wi-Fi. Lindsey met with Diane Lemke, Pioneer Place Coordinator, to create a survey for Pioneer Place residents about library outreach opportunities for them.
