The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a must read for every teen. This story is about a young girl, Katniss Everdeen, who must fight to stay alive. Not only does she have to participate in the Capitol’s annual Hunger Games, but she has to scavenge for food in her own district. By her side through this difficult time, is Peeta Mellark. Peeta doesn’t quite understand what Katniss is going through until they are both sent off to the Hunger Games to fight for their lives. The Hunger Games was supposed to teach others to survive and to trust the Capitol, but Katniss learned to love. Before the Games, Katniss was closed off, but through the Games she learned to open up and take chances.

This book is very fast paced, it never slows down. This makes it a very exciting read and hard to put down. I would recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of dystopian novels. It’s a classic rebellion against the government that leaves you at the edge of your seat wanting more. Not only is this book exciting, but it provides readers with great themes and lessons for the future.
