July 10, 2014

My name is Lindsey Ganz and I am honored to be serving the Poynette Area Public Library in my new role as library director.  It has been amazing to work here as a librarian assistant for the past three and a half years and watch the library grow over that time. I have had the pleasure to meet many of our patrons while working part time hours in the evenings and on weekends.  Please stop in to say, “hello” as I’d love to introduce myself to those of you I have yet to meet.

Our fundraising efforts have made it possible for our children to have the space they need!  On June 16th, we opened the new children’s area to kick off our summer program.  I would like to send many thanks to those who have donated to this project.  Whether you donated money, time, baked goods, or items for our fundraisers, we appreciate every effort that has been made to make this possible.  We’d especially like to thank the Friends of the Library for organizing and volunteering their time at many of the fundraising events.  We have had the pleasure of watching the children’s faces light up when they see the new space for the first time.  It is priceless.

Our summer library program is offered to our patrons of all ages and is off to a great start!  If you haven’t registered for the summer library program yet, it’s not too late!  Don’t forget to get your reading slips in by August 2nd to enter for a chance to win one of our cool baskets. Please ask us about our weekly programs available for toddlers, elementary aged children, and teens.  We also have detailed information about our programs available on our website at www.poynettelibrary.com.  The summer theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read!” and we have an upcoming presentation that will WOW all ages!  The Science Alliance will present Chemistry: Close Encounters of the Chemical Kind, showcasing chemical reactions that will dazzle you with wonder and experiments that will awe the senses. Please join us for this exciting presentation on Thursday, July 31 at 6:30 at the library in the new children’s area.

On behalf of the Library Board, we’d like to thank two of our parting library board members, Dolores Hausmann and Kim Johnson, for their time, dedication and service to the board. We’d also like to welcome Linda Brodeur as our newest board member.  We are currently seeking an additional board member.  If interested, please inquire at the front desk at the library or contact one of our current board members for more information.

Look forward to seeing you at the library!
