Library Lynx, December 26, 2013

Believe, Poynette!  Christmas wishes do come true!  Your wish for more space to accommodate a burgeoning children's program and provide more space as the library has become a community center, is a reality!  The preservation and renovation of the historic Jamieson building as the site for library expansion is what the majority of the community had on their wish list and thanks to all of you who have contributed so generously of your time, baked goods, silent auction items, skills, products and money, the Jamieson Expansion Project will be going forward in 2014.

"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.  He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.”

To all those who have played "Santa" to the Library, bringing joy to all of us through your unbelievable generosity, we send out a hearty “Thank you!”

Our most recent “Santa” is the Alliant Energy Foundation which awarded us a Community Grant for $5000 for the purchase of rolling book carts for our children’s area.  These movable book cases will allow us to reconfigure the children’s area for different activities.  Also, Bob Gebert, an Alliant Energy retiree presented a $400 Volunteer Grant check for the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the Poynette Area Public Library on behalf of the Alliant Energy Foundation.  Mr. Ernie Koepp assisted the Library in purchasing a LifePak Defibrillator and has generously agreed to instruct our staff and Library Board members in its use.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

See you @ the Library!
