Library Lynx

2/19/2016

It is an exciting time of year at the Poynette Area Public Library as we prepare for spring. If you are thinking of traveling over spring break, visit the library and check out our travel books to get ideas for your next trip. If you plan to stay in the area for spring break, don’t miss out on our family read book and movie event where adults and kids can team up to read The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. The event will take place on March 31st starting at 4:00. At least one adult and one child may partner up for this event for a chance to answer trivia questions, discuss the book, and view the movie. Copies of the book are available at the library.

It’s time to celebrate! Dr. Seuss is having his 112th birthday on March 2nd. We will have cake and a display up on March 1st to honor this popular children’s author.

“Transform Your Library” during the week of April 11th through April 16th for National Library Week. We will have a busy week of activities planned, so mark your calendars now. We will have a coloring contest for youth sponsored by the BP of Poynette and Arlington. We will also have giveaways, treats, and a contest for our patrons. All patrons can participate in a “Who Knows our Staff Best” contest during this week. The Poynette Library Staff will select books that represent them in some way and have selected books available for patrons to check out. Upon checkout, patrons will have the opportunity to guess which staff member picked the book to enter this fun contest.

The Poynette Library has a new user-friendly scanner located at the computer closest to the front desk. We also have a new printer and fax machine that works efficiently. Incoming faxes are free of charge and outgoing faxes are 50 cents per page. We are now able to make color copies at the front desk for your convenience.

The Friends of the Poynette Area Public Library are very active in supporting the library. They recently funded the bouncy house for the Winter Carnival and have amazing treats for sale for “Munchy Mondays” at the library. They have assisted us in raising money for the painting project completed in November. The original section of the library has a fresh coat of paint and looks wonderful. We would like to thank Bruce Krigbaum for his hard work and excellent attention to detail in this project. The Friends are excited to work on the next part of our project to replace the old carpeting and add a café counter in the quiet room. Please consider joining this wonderful group. For more information, feel free to attend the Friends meetings open to the public on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.
