The Poynette Area Public Library is excited to announce our 2015 Summer Library Program theme: Every Hero Has a Story! We encourage patrons of all ages to join us during the week of June 15th through June 20th for registration. The first 100 registrants will be eligible to enter a drawing for a FREE one-year magazine subscription of your choice! We also encourage you to bring your children during registration week to have a “hand” in creating a canvas painting to decorate the children’s area. Does your family love superheroes? Stop by the library to have your family picture taken in a photo cutout of your favorite animated character!

The library is a great place to have some family fun this summer. Duke Otherwise will be performing on Tuesday, June 16th at 10:00 am at the Poynette Area Public Library. Duke is a children’s musician unlike any you’ve ever heard before. He performs original songs, wild dancing, and storytelling with a great sense of humor. Fun for children of all ages!

CRITTERrrrMan, a.k.a. Chris Langenfeld combines his love of nature with music, singing, storytelling, animal puppets and humor. This is a performance of animal education at its finest! Bring the whole family to the Poynette Library for this entertaining evening on Thursday, July 30th at 6:00 pm.

Preschool storytimes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am from June 23rd through July 30th. Programs on Tuesday and Thursday of the same week will be identical. Join us for read-aloud books, songs, counting, actions, and a craft. We also welcome infant siblings to attend with an adult. Topics for the programs will vary including comic book super heroes, animals helping, community heroes, and more.

Elementary Encounters meet on Mondays at 1:30 pm at the Poynette Library from June 22nd to July 27th. This program is designed for the kindergarten to 4th grade graduate who enjoys stories read aloud and hands-on activities. We hope to see you there!

The Poynette Library is also excited to announce that our Career Crafters schedule is set for Thursdays at 1:30 pm. We would like to thank our community volunteers who help to make this program possible: Mr. Luke Walz of Poynette Auto Body, the Bahr Family of Sweet Wisconsin Honey Farm, Mrs. Lindsey Ghiloni of Karate America, Ms. Julie Hessling of The Watering Can, and Mr. Bryce Kitson with his presentation of digital art.

Our reading incentive program is back again this summer and everyone can sign up! We have weekly reading and activity sheets for the read-to-me and elementary kids with the treasure box full of items and a chance to win a basket. Middle school & high school students and adults – for every book you read, you will get a chance to enter to win one of our great baskets. Stop by the library for more details on this wonderful program. Also, our top reader in each age group will be awarded an amazing prize!

Movies in the Library are shown on the big screen and are all family friendly. Join us for a fun movie and FREE popcorn on the following Wednesdays at 6:00 pm: June 24th, July 15th, and August 12th.

Our weekly and monthly programs will continue to meet throughout the summer. We would love to see some new faces! A lively group of euchre players meet every Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Join us on Thursdays at 1:00 pm for a fun game of cribbage. Knitters, crocheters, and other crafters are welcome to share their wonderful projects while spending time with each other on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm. Adult craft night for ages 16 and older has a new project on the third Thursday of every month. Supplies are provided and sign up is required. Check out the monthly craft at the front desk.

The Friends of the Poynette Area Public Library are now raising money to update our paint and replace our aging carpeting in the library. Contact us at the library to find out how you can help!
