Poynette Area Public Library

Summer Library Program 2018

Are you ready to rock ‘n’ roll? “Libraries Rock” is our Summer Library Program theme this year and we are excited to offer something for everyone.

The Summer Library Reading Program runs from Monday, June 4th through Saturday, August 4. All ages are encouraged to participate by registering at the library and completing reading slips throughout the summer for a chance to win a beautiful prize basket. Children ages 12 and under have an opportunity to receive weekly coupons and prize box items by completing a weekly reading slip.

Bring your little one to one of our identical preschool storytimes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am from June 12 through July 26. With weekly themes, crafty projects and guest musicians the children are sure to have a memorable summer at the Poynette Library.

We encourage elementary and middle school students to join us on Thursdays at 1:30pm from June 14 through July 26 for our popular Career Crafters program. Listen to experts from the community share their stories and tools of their trade. Check out our website or pick up a program brochure for more information.

On Wednesdays June 6 through July 18 from 2:00 to 4:00pm, we will have drop-in sessions to try out the following technological devices: Spheros, Virtual Reality, Wii, Stop Motion Animation, iPads, eReaders and laptops to explore Linkcat: library catalog and database searching.

We hope you can join in the fun by attending performances by two highly recommended entertainers. Tom Kastle will perform a free program that explores rhythms, rhymes and stories for people of all ages on Tuesday, June 5 at 10:30am. Be prepared to be wowed by Mark Hayward with his amazing juggling actions, fantastic yo-yo tricks and jokes. He will be sure to entertain the entire family during his performance on Friday, July 27 at 10:30am.

The Library will be hosting a book and movie event at the library on Tuesday, August 7 at 4:30 pm to discuss the book, have refreshments and watch the movie. Recommended ages 8 and older. Pick up a copy of the book in July and join in on the fun. For more details, please check out our website calendar or contact us at the library.

This year, a penny jar will be available at the library to collect funds for the Poynette Music Parents Club to fund scholarships for music students.
