It’s that time of year again! The Friends of the Library are hosting the Silent Auction Fundraiser to begin on November 3rd. We have received many donations and have some wonderful baskets with homemade items, books, and other neat gifts. The auction ends on November 21st so stop on by the library and place your bids! The baskets will make perfect gifts for the upcoming holidays as well as benefit the library.
Our Friends of the Library group have also signed up to be a part of the Amazon Smile Program. If you like to order through Amazon, here is your chance to help raise money for the library! Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to a charitable organization of your choice on eligible purchases. Here is how you can be a part of this program: Sign into smile.amazon.com, type in Poynette Area Public Library Friends, and then select them as your charitable organization. You may then add items to your cart and make purchases using the same process as you did using Amazon. If you would like to learn more about Amazon Smile, please don’t hesitate to ask us at the Library.
There are many exciting upcoming events, so mark your calendars and get ready! For reminders of all our events, visit our website at Poynettelibrary.com and view the calendar page. You may also follow us on Facebook or sign up for our email list.
On Thursday, November 13th at 2:00 pm, we will have Patti Herman, PhD of Columbia County’s UW-Extension as a guest speaker. She will be giving tips on how to cook safely with crock pots this Thanksgiving. Please join us for a great presentation and some treats and beverages.
The library will be having a 4K Parents and Students Presentation on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 pm. Poynette School District 4K teachers will be inviting students along with their parents to the library to learn what resources are available to supplement their child’s education. Look for an invitation from your child’s 4K teacher.
Our new adult traveling book club had a great time at Lapacek’s Orchard last month. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon and tried some fresh yummy apples from the orchard. The discussion was great and everyone had an enjoyable time. We hope you will join us at our next destination at the Poynette Historical Society Museum on Wednesday, November 19th at 1:00 pm. Pick any book on Wisconsin history of your choice to read. We have a nice selection of books on Wisconsin available at the library. Join us at 1:00 pm for a tour of the Poynette Historical Museum and a book talk at the library to follow. Don’t have time to read a book before the discussion? Feel free to join us anyway for the tour and discussion.
Get ready for some family fun! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Poynette Library on Saturday, December 13th from 9:30 until 11:00 am. Bring your camera and your children to the library to get a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a free book for the kids!
We will also be having a Winter Reading Program for patrons of all ages. More information will be available as we get closer to the start of the program. Stay tuned!
We want to remind you that the library will be closed for some of the upcoming holidays. We will close for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th. The library will also be closed for Christmas on December 24th and 25th. On New Year’s Eve, we will close early at 5:30 pm and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Our staff wishes for you to have a safe and happy holiday season!
We look forward to seeing you at the library!
