To start the book off, we learn that one missing girl case rocked the town of Cooley Ridge. 10 years later, it happened again. Nic hasn’t been home since the first missing girl case, and there’s a reason she hasn’t returned to her hometown. She doesn’t want the old wounds and scars to open up again. But when her past resurfaces, she has no choice. Returning to her old town, she and her brother must help get their dad’s finances set and in order before time runs out, which proves more difficult than they thought. Everyone is asking questions about everybody, trying to figure out what happened to Anneliese, the second missing girl. With time running out in many ways, Nic must figure out what really happened to Corinne, and how that case ties to Anneliese.
