The Chef by James Patterson

It is almost Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Caleb Rooney, who recently quit his job at the New Orleans Police Department, is preparing his food truck, Killer Chef, to serve as many po’ boys as possible. When he overhears a plot to ruin Mardi Gras, he returns to his past job - not without consequences - to save his beloved town and celebration from terror.

The Chef has a 5/5 star rating in my book. With dynamic characters, a suspenseful roller coaster of a plot, and with delicious recipes embedded, The Chef is one of my favorite books. Although I haven’t tried the recipes (yet), the Louisiana food described is as good as the intricate plot nuanced with police drama, resilient character, and a hint of romance. If you are a thrill seeker, a crime drama lover, a food fanatic, or all of the above, then The Chef is the book for you.
