The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

Reviewed by J. Morton, August 2022

The Hidden Oracle, by Rick Riordan, is the first of the Trials of Apollo series. The series precedes the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and the Heroes of Olympus series. The book follows the exploits of Apollo, a Greek god who has been thrown to earth after the war with Gaea in the Heroes of Olympus series. Now, without his godly powers, Apollo must learn to navigate the human world and uncover ancient memories that have haunted him for thousands of years.

The Hidden Oracle is an action filled adventure full of Greek mythology and superpowered fights, but it is also very heartfelt. It tells of an extremely egotistical, all-powerful god who has been stripped of his might and dignity. He is forced to see the world from a human point of view, and it makes him reconsider what humanity is all about. The book is fit for teens and tweens alike, and anyone who loves seeing their favorite myths come to life.
