The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks follows the lives of Noah Calhorn and Allie Hamilton. They fell in love in the 1940s despite coming from different financial backgrounds. Sadly, their relationship was brief and lasted only one summer. However, several years later through something that can only be described as fate, the two meet again. Allie is engaged to a different man and has to make the difficult decision regarding who she is going to choose. The novel is told from the perspective of an old man reminding a woman in the nursing home with memory loss.
This story is one of the strengths of love and how it overcomes everything, even the impossible. While this novel is not my personal favorite, it is known around the world as one of the best romance novels of all time. For this reason, I would recommend reading it at least once.
