Elizabeth Lim’s Six Crimson Cranes, a novel full of magic, family, and love tells a story of mystery and enchantment that keeps the reader on their toes. The story follows the young princess Shiori’anma whose only goal is to avoid the impending betrothal that threatens to take her from those she loves, her father, stepmother, and six brothers. However, as she learns more about what’s going on around her, her perception of the world and her sense of reality changes completely as she is forced to go on the adventure of a lifetime to recover what she loves. This young adult novel contains mentions and/or depictions of death, murder, poison, demons, magic, grief, war, and loss.
