Daisy is a young girl who has always been good. A good daughter and a good sister, helping out her autistic brother when he has turned from a boy to a thirteen year old man-child. The only aspect that can help her cope is her trumpet. The one feature that makes her stand out in her world of blending in. But when her brother, Steven, turns into a violent creature, Daisy’s parents are forced to send him to a school fit for his needs. Daisy is distraught that she decides the only way to be a good sister is to turn bad. But it's hard to be bad when the Irish foreign exchange student, Cal, is trying to pull her back in to the musical world, knowing what is best for her. This compelling novel, The Sound of Letting Go, written by Stasia Ward Kehoe shows that even though we make think that a choice is right, we can end up hurting people more than ever imagined.
